With 1,000 LNG cargoes since 2015 under its belt, Houston-based Cheniere is already experiencing a dandy year. Reese Energy Consulting today is following the latest news from the LNG lion, which just announced standout Q1 results in an industry that’s expected to export more gas supplies than crude oil next year. High off revenues of $1.5 billion in the first three months—a 40% increase compared to the same period in 2020—Cheniere also is hitting impressive milestones from its Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi terminals. The company’s ninth train at Sabine Pass is currently under construction with startup planned in the first half of 2021, nearly a year ahead of schedule. Upon completion, Sabine Pass will be capable of producing 30 mtpa of LNG. Sabine also served as the launch point in April for the facility’s inaugural carbon-neutral LNG cargo bound for Europe. In a collaboration with Shell, Cheniere purchased offsets proportionate to the estimated CO2 emissions from LNG production through delivery from Shell’s nature-based projects that protect, transform, or restore land.
Cheniere Energy, Inc. is a liquefied natural gas company headquartered in Houston, Texas. In February 2016 it became the first US company to export liquefied natural gas. As of 2018 it is a Fortune 500 company.
