Reese Energy Consulting today offers a big congratulations to Houston-based Kinder Morgan, which just announced operations on the storied Permian Highway Pipeline. Like many projects of its ilk, the $2 billion PHP met with its share of critics and controversy since construction began in 2019. But like they say in Texas, that’s just par for the course. With final completion hurrahed last month, the 430-mile pipeline now is expected to go full-service early next year. PHP will flow 2.1 BCFD of natural gas from the Waha area to Gulf Coast and Mexico markets and will also help to mitigate the Permian’s flaring issue, which last year hit 293.2 BCF. PHP is KM’s second pipeline to transport gas from the Permian to the Gulf. The company’s 447.5-mile, 2 BCFD Gulf Coast Express began service last year. Both pipelines are fully subscribed under long-term agreements. Shippers on PHP include EagleClaw Midstream, Apache, and XTO.
