With the $5.1 billion acquisition of Tulsa-based SemGroup now in the rearview, Dallas-based Energy Transfer is still weighing a final investment decision to build an offshore, crude export terminal capable of mooring Very Large Crude Carriers. Until that project’s greenlighted, ET is forging ahead with several new builds and expansions to its existing systems along with a proposed plan to convert the company’s Lake Charles, La., LNG facility from receiving global oil supplies to exporting them.

RMR is following the latest news from Energy Transfer which just announced signed shipper agreements for gathering, transporting and processing more NGLs from the Eagle Ford and Delaware sub-basin to the Texas Gulf. The Lone Star Express Expansion will add another 362 miles of pipe to the company’s flagship Lone Star Express and flow up to 400,000 BPD of NGLs to ET’s Mont Belvieu storage and fractionation facilities. Service is expected to begin in the fourth quarter this year.

Energy Transfer also plans to construct an eighth fractionator at Mont Belvieu following the ramp up of its seventh scheduled to come online this quarter. Both will add a combined capacity of 300,000 BPD. Completion for Frac VIII is slated for completion in summer 2021, which will increase total plant fractionation capacity to more than 1 MMBPD. The Mont Belvieu facility also offers 50 MMBbls of NGL storage capacity with access to multiple NGL pipelines and rail and truck loading along the Gulf.
