After 10 years of partnering on midstream projects, Mike Davis and his company’s oil and gas investment team share what you might call relationship kismet. The two have collaborated on multiple ventures since 2009, and this year brought them back to do it again with the formation of LM Energy and an eye on the northern Delaware Basin.
LM Energy Partners
LM Energy is a Dallas based midstream oil and gas company focused on operational excellence and customer service. The company has decades of experience meeting customers’ infrastructure needs with reliability, speed and efficiency. The LM Energy team has developed and acquired midstream assets related to crude, gas, and water across many U.S. basins.
Davis, president of Dallas-based LM, founded and chaired Discovery Midstream until its sale in August 2018 for $1.2 billion. Elliot Gerson of Dallas-based private equity firm Old Ironsides Energy previously served as vice president of finance at Brazos Midstream until its sale in May 2018 for $1.75 billion. You could say midstream infrastructure runs in their blood. And the two have a lot to celebrate this month with another shared kick-off—the launch of phase one of the Touchdown Crude Oil Gathering System.
LM began construction in July of the initial 50 miles of crude oil pipeline to gather from and deliver to points in Eddy County, NM. Now, it’s on to the second phase of Touchdown scheduled for early 2020, which will include construction of a natural gas gathering system and another 50 miles of gathering and transportation pipeline in an area parched for infrastructure. The latest production numbers suggest that Eddy County will become the second highest oil-producing county in the U.S. by 2020.
