What began in 2015 as four guys in a truck on the hunt for a Permian deal now has become one of the largest privately-owned natural gas and crude oil midstream companies in the Delaware. In seven years, Fort Worth-based Brazos has created a strictly Delaware-focused midstream machine through acquisitions, newbuilds, and a who’s who customer list of the area’s leading producers. The company operates 800 miles of oil and gas gathering pipe, a gas processing complex with 460 MMCF of capacity, and 75 MBbls of crude storage. Reese Energy Consulting today is following the latest news from Brazos, which has acquired two more Permian assets—both from Texas-based Diamondback/Rattler, but only one located in the Delaware. After operating D/R’s Pecos Gas Gathering System since 2017, Brazos can call itself the proud owner of that asset for $93 million. The second deal with D/R welcomes Brazos into the Permian’s Midland with a $54 million purchase of the Mustang Springs Gas Gathering System. Plans for expansion of both systems are already in drive.
